Matt Hughey and His Journey to Chem-Dry Business Ownership

Matt Hughey, Hughey’s Chem-Dry in Arlington Texas, worked in the amusement park industry for many years. When the company he worked for filed for bankruptcy, cut bonuses, and stopped giving raises he decided to take his future into his own hands and go into business for himself, ” The company put a freeze on full time hires and any new opening would not be filled.  With my kids getting older and college  being just around the corner, I decided it was time to make a move.”

Over the years Matt had gotten his carpet cleaned many times both by steam cleaners and Chem-Dry. “I was fascinated by the equipment Chem-Dry used over the competition.  This stuck with me and when I began my search I decided to check out what Chem-Dry had to offer.”

Matt  got started by doing research into Chem-Dry. He spoke to several Chem-Dry franchisees, “Everyone I spoke with said if they had a chance at a do over they would still choose Chem-Dry.  That says a lot.”

Matt and his wife Tanya attended the August New Owner Training Class in Logan, UT, “The training is fast and furious. My wife and me worked hard and studied hard during the week of training, we had a blast, the training is good and just like anything, you get out of it what you put in.”  Matt’s wife is currently working full time as a Teacher and helps with paperwork and assists him on jobs when she can. Their plan is to have Tanya join the business, full time, by next year.

“Chem-Dry offered me a chance at taking control of my own destiny, from income to family time. There are no guarantee’s in life, but if your considering making a move to have a chance at a better life, being your own boss and more time for you and your family  then you should consider the options Chem-Dry will offers you.”

August New Owner Training class wrapped up last Friday and another group of entrepreneurs traveled home to start their Chem-Dry businesses. As with every training class, they not only experience first hand how to use the equipment, but also spent time in the class room learning everything from carpet theory to customer acquisition and marketing techniques.

Doug Grim, new owner of Douglas Chem-Dry in Virginia said, “Training was not as I expected, it was very involved and a ton of information in a short amount of time. I enjoyed it very much.”

Sidney Rabon- Banker to Business Owner

Sidney Rabon, a Banker for 18 years, took the leap into business ownership last month. He is now owner of Cape Fear Chem-Dry servicing New Hanover and Brunswick Counties in NC. We asked Sidney why he chose to invest in Chem-Dry…

“I was a banker for 18 years before deciding to go into business for myself a few months ago.  For the last several years of my banking career I worked almost exclusively with small business owners so I have a pretty good idea of  the benefits and potential pitfalls.  My wife and I were interested in something we could do together and began to seriously look at franchises last fall.  We have been Chem-Dry customers for approximately 10 years and our belief in the product/process and the overwhelming positive responses from current franchisees is what led use to choose Chem-Dry.  We also considered becoming independent business owners but we believe the franchise fee is bargain considering all of the support that is available to us.”

Congratulations to our Newest Chem-Dry Owners!

Congratulations to another group of Chem-Dry Franchise owners that graduated the June New Owner Training class at Chem-Dry’s home office in Logan, UT. Sidney Rabon gave us his thoughts on the class, “The training was beneficial and covered everything from using the equipment to handling the finances.  I’ve had a few questions come after training and it was easy to call someone I met during training to get the answer.”

Why Chem-Dry? Pat Shaffer tells us…

Why Chem-Dry? Pat Shaffer tells us…

With the housing crisis and lost jobs many people find themselves looking for a way to take control. Pat Shaffer, owner of Acme Chem-Dry in California, shares her story of how she decided to put her financial future in her own hands.

I have been in the Mortgage Industry for years and a business owner, in that field, twice over.  Since the housing crisis came about in 2007, the industry and my income has been on a downward spiral.  My husband Mitch, a carpenter by trade, has also felt the effects of the housing crisis and has had no employment in his field since prior to building our dream home a few years ago.  When we lost that home last year and suffered other credit challenges, we decided it was time to pick ourselves up and  make a move.

Mitch had been a Chem-Dry Technician many years ago and, due to this, for the last 25 years he and I have never used any other carpet cleaning service on our own carpets.

When my daughter’s escrow closed on her Sacramento, CA home last year, we called a local Chem-Dry to come clean her carpets.  He and I sparked up a conversation and we decided, at that point, to investigate a Franchise for ourselves.   At that point, we took the plunge.

Since I have had two successful businesses in the past, we both felt that we could make a success with Chem-Dry.

We believe in the process and the products!

Sincerely,

Pat Shaffer, Owner

Chem-Dry welcomes the Cordsen’s into the family. Joe, a former Arizona Highway Patrol officer and Stephanie, currently working as a Registered Nurse, are recent owners of Cordsen Chem-Dry in Arizona. Jo explained why he chose to invest in a Chem-Dry Franchise, “I wanted to be my own boss. I liked the fact that Chem-Dry has a unique process which sets them apart from other carpet cleaners. I also liked the new buyer package and financing.”

Stephanie had her own reasons,” My husband researched, prayed about it, and was persistent in gaining my approval to quit his job and start this business. I was sold on the fact that he could create his own schedule. It is a company with a great track record and longevity. Great people and very helpful!” Joe also explained why he is confident in the Chem-Dry process, “We have a revolutionary carpet cleaning process. We use carbonation which is certified GREEN, uses less water, and dries in 1 to 2 hours. Plus, customer service is A+”
